The Trampery On The Gantry, Hackney Wick

+1
Overview
The Trampery On the Gantry is one of the most architecturally joyful workspaces in London, a vertical village of 21 freestanding sustainable timber studios installed directly onto the massive steel Gantry structure at the back of the Broadcast Centre from the 2012 Olympics at Here East, overlooking Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the River Lea.
Designed in collaboration with Here East and architects Hawkins\Brown, every studio has been constructed from modular timber components made with a computerised fabrication process, each fully insulated with plenty of natural light, a sink, electric heating, and an outdoor area with spectacular views across the Olympic Park and the River Lea. The exterior of each studio pays individual decorative homage to Hackney Wick pioneers and industries from the 19th and 20th centuries, giving the whole complex a character and playfulness that is hard to describe without seeing it. At the heart of the Gantry is the Village Hall, a shared building containing the members' kitchen, open-plan coworking desks on the upper floor, printing facilities, weekly socials, air conditioning, and 24/7 access. The majority of studios are prioritised for creative businesses already established in Hackney Wick and Fish Island, with the remaining studios available to the wider creative community.
Hackney Wick Overground is a ten-minute walk for connections across the London Overground network, and Stratford is fifteen minutes away with Jubilee, Central, DLR, National Rail, and Elizabeth line connections. The Olympic Park, Hackney Marshes, the canal towpaths, and the entire Hackney Wick creative neighbourhood with its galleries, studios, and independent restaurants and bars make this one of the most genuinely distinctive working environments in the whole of London.
