How to Choose the Right Workspace for Connectivity
When selecting a coworking space in London, consider the following factors to ensure your productivity remains uninterrupted:
- Verify the bandwidth: If your work involves video rendering, large database management, or constant Zoom calls, ask the space operator for specific upload and download speeds.
- Check the redundancy: Ask if the space has a backup internet provider. Enterprise-grade spaces usually have secondary lines to prevent downtime.
- Look for phone booths: Fast Wi-Fi is only useful if you have a quiet place to take calls. Ensure there are enough private booths or meeting rooms available.
- Assess the location: Choose a space that is easily accessible for your team, reducing commute times and improving overall work-life balance.

FAQ
What is a good Wi-Fi speed for a coworking space?
For general office work, a download speed of 10 to 20 Mbps per person is sufficient. However, for data-heavy tasks like video editing, large file transfers, or seamless video conferencing, look for spaces offering 100 Mbps or more.
Do London coworking spaces have backup internet connections?
Many premium coworking spaces in London feature redundant internet connections. This means they have a secondary backup line from a different provider to ensure members remain online if the primary line fails.
Can I test the Wi-Fi speed before booking a desk?
Yes, most spaces allow you to book a day pass or take a tour where you can test the connection. You can also ask the community team for their latest speed test results.
Are public Wi-Fi networks in coworking spaces secure?
While reputable spaces use enterprise-grade security, public or shared networks always carry some risk. We recommend using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) and ensuring your device’s sharing settings are turned off.
